109 (Ichi-maru-kyū?) is a department store in Japan, led by the Tokyu Malls Development (TMD), a company under the Tokyu Group.

About SHIBUYA109 and 109-2

Opposing to the Saison Group that was expanding majorly in Shibuya in the 70s, Tokyu Group chose to use Tokyu Shōgyō Kaihatsu (currently TMD) to open up a department store in April 1979. Shibuya 109 and 109-2 are located outside of the Shibuya Station, in Shibuya, Tokyo.

Stores inside the department store is mainly for women in their 20's. 109 became more famous after appearing in fashion magazines and television shows. They have opened an internet shopping mall in October 2005 with the "SHIBUYA109" brand.

Both stores are relatively small. Goods are mostly of good bargain. Store 1 is a popular meeting place as there is a spacious area in front, where you can see a lots of cool Tokyo youngsters. Store 2 is right opposite to Seibu.

    It was created in March 2006 as SHIBUYA 109 DREAMS, later recreated into the current 109.[1]
