2 Pistols' first success with a single came with an independent record called "Dirty Foot," which he wrote while still in high school[1] and distributed in the Tarpon Springs area, at the urging of his cousin. After hearing it played in a local dance club and then witnessing another rapper's performance, 2 Pistols had his first chance to perform on-stage.
“The guy was just not that good,” he explains. “And he could tell by my face that I thought he was whack. So he looks down at me in the crowd and asks me if I think I could do better. I said ‘hell yeah, I could!’”
After taking the stage and performing his own single ("Dirty Foot"), 2 Pistols' confidence in his abilities grew to a point that he began to take his chances at making a career of music seriously.[1]
He started out, as more than a few successful artists have, by acting as a local promoter, bringing acts such as Plies, Da Shop Boyz, T-Pain, and Lil Boosie to the Tampa area.[1] Through these shows, he began making connections to powerful individuals in the music industry, which eventually led to his signing with Universal and his collaboration with T-Pain, "She Got It," which is currently in the top 10 on the Rhythmic chart.[3]
His debut album, Death Before Dishonor, was release on 17 June2008[4] and features production from the Grammy-winning J.U.S.T.I.C.E League, Da Honorable C.N.O.T.E and other up and coming producers. Other confirmed tracks from the album include "Blinded" - which features samples from the movie "Blow" - as well as "You Know Me," in addition to "She Got It."
