Addison-Wesley is a book publishing imprint of Pearson PLC, best known for computer books. As well as publishing books, Addison-Wesley distributes its technical titles through the Safari Books Online e-reference service.
HistoryMelbourne Wesley Cummings founded Addison-Wesley in 1942, with first book published by Addison-Wesley being MIT professor Francis Weston Sears' Mechanics. Its first computer book was Programs for an Electronic Digital Computer, by Wilkes, Wheeler, and Gill. In 1970, Addison-Wesley acquired W.A. Benjamin Company, and merged with Benjamin Cummings in 1977. It was purchased by Pearson PLC in 1988.[1] Notable books
