Avinash Kamalakar Dixit (born 1944 in Bombay) is an Indian American economist.
EducationDixit earned a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics at Bombay University. He subsequently completed a B.A. in Mathematics at Cambridge University and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. CareerOther workHe was President of the Econometric Society in 2001, and was a Vice-President in 2002 and is the President in 2008 of the American Economic Association. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1992 and the National Academy of Sciences in 2005. Books
