Dr. Bradford Wells Parkinson is an American systems engineer and Chairman of The Aerospace Corporation board of trustees.
He was co-recipient of the Charles Stark Draper Prize in February 2003 because of his contribution to the development of the Global Positioning System (GPS). He shared the 500,000 dollar award with Dr. Ivan Getting. The Draper Prize (the engineering profession's equivalent of the Nobel Prize) recognizes engineering achievements that have led to important contributions to everyday life.
He received his bachelor's degree in engineering from the United States Naval Academy in 1957. At MIT, he received his S.M. in aeronautics and astronautics in 1961. He received his PhD in 1966 from Stanford University.
