The Children's Miracle Network (CMN) is an international non-profit organization that raises funds for Children's hospitals, medical research and community awareness of children's health issues. The organization, founded in 1983 by the Osmond family and John Schneider, is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. To date, the Children's Miracle Network claims to have raised over US$3.2 billion which is distributed directly to a network of 170 hospitals.
FundraisingChildren's Miracle Network raises more than $250 million each year. The funds are raised by corporate partners throughout the United States and Canada. There are 170 children's hospitals affiliated with Children's Miracle Network in the United States and Canada. The funds raised by Children's Miracle Network flow through directly to participating hospitals. Children's Miracle Network's primary fund raising efforts are corporate fund raising campaigns with more than 75 corporate partners. The Children's Miracle Network also have sister organisations in the United Kingdom and Ireland, benefitting children's hospitals in those countries. In addition, Children's Miracle Network and many of its member hospitals hold an annual telethon every first weekend in June, known nationally as the Children's Miracle Network Celebration, hosted by Marie Osmond and Schneider, with local cut-ins. The telethon is presented on various television stations in the United States and Canada with local segments varying from station to station. In Quebec, the TVA network produces its own French-language telethon, Operation Enfant-Soleil, held the same weekend as its English-language counterparts; though it does not use any of CMN's segments, the telethon and the organisation is part of the Children's Miracle Network. Walmart, Dairy Queen, Domino Sugar, Phi Mu, Church's Chicken and Marriott Hotels are some of the corporate partners that support Children's Miracle Network. Charity ratingVarious agencies evaluate charities, based on a number of factors, including the percent of their revenue that is actually spent on their charitable programs. Children's Miracle Network receives a 4-star (out of 4) rating, with 89.1% of their revenue going to program expenses. According to the BBB Wise Giving Alliance, Children's Miracle Network "meets the BBB Standards for Charity Accountability." References
