EDE or Equinox Desktop Environment is a small desktop environment that is meant to be simple and fast. It is based on a modified version of FLTK called eFLTK, though EDE 2 will be based on regular FLTK.[1] It has a familiar look and feel which resembles the classic look in Microsoft Windows.[citation needed]
EDE is not as common in Linux distributions as other desktop environments such as KDE, GNOME, and Xfce. It is available as an optional package in Minix 3.[2]
