Ericom Software, Inc., founded in 1993, is located in Closter, New Jersey, and provides software for enterprise-wide application access for server-based computing environments, (Citrix-like), running on Microsoft Windows Terminal Services (via the Remote Desktop Protocol, RDP), Blade PCs, Virtual Desktops (VDI, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure or Desktop Virtualization) running on hypervisors from VMware, Oracle VM, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Virtual Server, Citrix XenServer, Parallels, Inc., Virtual Iron, and other Xen-based hypervisors, as well as, PC/browser-based terminal emulation, thin-client computing and Linux desktops. According to Butler Group, "Ericom[1] is a specialist in providing and managing user access to server-based computing, has recently made announcements of continuing extensions to the range of virtualized, and other, environments that it supports." "The support for Windows Terminal Server extends across Windows Server 2000, 2003 (including the 64-bit version), and even 2008 editions, and PowerTerm WebConnect supports also the future-oriented blade PC and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure." "Meanwhile, in the desktop space, Ericom is now very well placed to offer unified application delivery very flexibly over the full range of technologies that enterprises have accumulated to date, and are likely to continue amassing." "Given the spur to broader adoption provided by both economic pressures and virtualization, and Ericom’s record over a long period of offering a significant price advantage over the best-known purveyor of aggregation solutions for desktop application access, it would benefit customer organizations to gain a greater awareness of the all-round capabilities and strengths of PowerTerm WebConnect." In November, 2007 Ericom delivered the first Terminal Services solution to be certified by Microsoft for Windows Server 2008. Tony de Freitas, Director of Windows Server marketing at Microsoft confirmed that "Ericom has introduced the first Terminal Services application that takes full advantage of the security and solid foundation of Windows Server 2008". [2] Ericom is also listed in Deloitte's Israel Technology Fast 50 Winners in 2005.[3] CompetitionEricom positions its PowerTerm WebConnect product line as an alternative to Citrix XenApp, formerly Citrix Presentation Server, and Citrix XenDesktop.
