Company history
In October 2003 PIPEX was purchased by GX Networks plc, for £55 million. GX Networks plc renamed itself to Pipex Communications plc to preserve the brand.
On 13 September 2007 the Company completed the Broadband Disposal. As part of that sale, Tiscali UK Limited acquired the Company’s trade marks in the name "Pipex" and granted the Company a licence to allow the Company to continue to use the name "Pipex" for certain purposes until the expiry of the licence on 13 March 2008.
2008 saw Pipex rebranded to FREEDOM4.

2003 November - Firstnet Services Limited changes it's name to PIPEX Communications Business Solutions Limited. [3]
2003 December - The Company transferred PIPEX Networks Limited (at that time PIPEX Internet Limited) to
2008 February - Pipex Business rebrands as Vialtus. [19]
2008 March - Pipex Communications plc is now known as FREEDOM4 Communications plc[20]
2008 March - Due to Pipex Broadband being sold to Tiscali last year, the company known as Pipex Communications Ltd is now known as GX Networks Ltd. [21]
2008 May - FREEDOM4 Communications plc has bought UK based WiFi roaming services provider BOZII. BOZII's service — soon to be renamed [4]FREEDOM4 WiFi — is Europe's largest based aggregator and will give FREEDOM4's customers access to over 40,000 hotspots in the UK and internationally [22]
2008 August - FREEDOM4 Communications plc is now known as FREEDOM4 Group plc[23]
2008 October - FREEDOM4 has launched a new 'Mobile Broadband 1000' service, which combines a wireless connection with special software to select the highest quality 3G Mobile Broadband or Wi-Fi connection at any given location. [24]
