Contents

Features

Norton AntiBot monitors applications and processes running in the computer in order to detect and remove bots and malware that may be present.

The application can be used in conjunction with existing security software.

System requirements

Windows XP Windows Vista (32/64-bit)
Processor 600 MHz or higher 1 GHz or higher
RAM 256 MB 1 GB
Free hard drive space 50 MB 50 MB

A DVD-ROM or CD-ROM drive and Internet Explorer 5.5 or above is also listed as required for installation of Norton AntiBot. However a download of the product can also be purchased direct from Symantec, which removes the need for a CD/DVD-ROM drive.[1]

Product activation

The product comes with a 15-day trial period, with the option of purchasing a 1-year product key.

Criticisms

Norton AntiBot can only monitor active processes, not dormant threats, since dormant threats have no behavior for the software to monitor. Therefore, dormant threats can only be removed when it is active.

The program has also been criticized for not removing entire threats cleanly.[2]
