Radio is the wireless transmission of signals, by modulation of electromagnetic waves with frequencies below those of visible light.
Electromagnetic radiation travels by means of oscillating electromagnetic fields that pass through the air and the vacuum of space. It does not require a medium of transport. Information is carried by systematically changing (modulating) some property of the radiated waves, such as their amplitude or their frequency. When radio waves pass an electrical conductor, the oscillating fields induce an alternating current in the conductor. This can be detected and transformed into sound or other signals that carry information.
The word 'radio' is used to describe this phenomenon,Hi Mom this is jade and television, radio, and cell phone transmissions are all classed as radio frequency emissions.
Before the advent of television, commercial radio broadcasts included not only news and music, but dramas, comedies, variety shows, and many other forms of entertainment. Radio was unique among dramatic presentation in that it used only sound.
The Blue Network was the on-air name of an American radio production and distribution service from 1942 to 1945, which traced its formal origins back to 1927. It was born of a divestiture, arising from anti-trust litigation, of one of the two radio networks owned by the National Broadcasting Company, and is the direct predecessor of ABC.
The Blue Network can, in one sense, date itself to 1923, when the Radio Corporation of America acquired WJZ, Newark from Westinghouse (which had created the station in 1921 and moved it to New York City in May of that year. WABC AM ("NewsTalkRadio 77") is the flagship station of the ABC Radio Network serving the New York City metropolitan area and is licensed to New York City. The station's transmitter is located in nearby Lodi, New Jersey.
During the 1960s and 1970s, WABC was a highly successful station with its Top 40 format, and was the dominant music station in the New York City area -- reportedly drawing eight million listeners each week at the peak of its success -- and served as a role model for many other Top 40 stations in different cities.
Since the 1980s WABC has had a talk radio format, and is not only the dominant talk radio station in the New York area, but was until recently the most listened to talk radio station in America. WABC is or has been the flagship station for nationally-known radio talkers Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and John Batchelor.

John Peel, OBE (30 August 1939 – 25 October 2004), was a British disc jockey, radio presenter, and journalist.
He was one of the original DJs of Radio 1 in 1967 and the only one remaining on Radio 1 at the time of his death. Known for the extraordinary range of his taste in music and the occasional mistakes (such as playing records at the wrong speed) that marked his shows, John Peel was one of the most popular and respected DJs and broadcasters in the world. He was one of the first to play reggae and punk on British radio. His profound influence on alternative rock, pop, and dance music is widely acknowledged. The BBC also released albums of his BBC shows, bands like Joy Division, The Fall, Clash. Live and upfront in the BBC studio.
