Greetings, I am Sean Whitton (formerly Xyrael, and notSean William who kindly designed this page), an editor of this encyclopedia. I'm always happy to help, so please feel free to talk to me if you need something. I'm around here because I see the project as something that has the potential to make positive changes to this world. By empowering people with free knowledge I believe that we can improve lives and cross boundaries. We can do this by staying together as a community, encouraging more people to get involved, and spreading the word about how fantastic truly free knowledge is.
The English Wikipedia was where I started out with Wikimedia. I'm an administrator here and mediator emeriti of the Mediation Committee. I'm a metapedian: I'm not fantastic at researching and writing articles. Some days you might find me clearing a deletion backlog or fanatically reverting vandalism and welcoming new users, while on others I'll be firefighting away as an OTRS agent on the e-mail response team, answering the info and press queues. I've recently started managing Foundation wiki accounts too.
I do lots of general PR for WMF with the Communications Committee and the Communication Projects Group. I do a decent amount of work on IRC where I am a Wikimedia group contact, one of those responsible for the running of the channels. I'm also a channel operator and freenode staffer, so feel free to ping me for IRC-related help.

Personal information
I'm a sixth form student living in Sheffield, UK. I'm interested in a good few things: generally anything that requires thought and involves learning, particularly maths and philosophy. My hobbies include change ringing at Sheffield Cathedral, reading, computing, gaming (electronic and table-top roleplaying) and I am an (occasional) volunteer for Oxfam.
On the Internet I contribute to Wikimedia and freenode as I think both of these projects are constructive and wide-reaching. I'm pretty into IRC, and I can also be found on other websites around the place. Sometimes I am known as spwhitton, seanw, Xyrael, Zyrael, swhitton or simply my real name.
