The Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) is the highway patrol agency for Utah , which has jurisdiction anywhere in the state. It was created to protect the lives, property and constitutional rights of people in Utah. The officers are called "Troopers " and have full police powers in the State of Utah.

Incidents
A retired Utah Highway Patrolman was arrested for pulling motorists over for traffic violations and robbing them.[ 5]
In June 2006, a 15 year veteran of the Utah Highway Patrol, also in charge of the DUI Task Force Unit, was charged with DUI after crashing his patrol car into a barrier on Bangerter Highway. [ 6]
