Víctor Aurelio Alvarez (born November 8, 1976 in Culiacan, Sinaloa Mexico) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Mexico City Red Devils of the Mexican League. Alvarez was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as an undrafted free agent on May 16, 1997. The Dodgers sent him to their farm system and he pitched for the Great Falls Dodgers (1997), Vero Beach Dodgers (1999-2000), San Antonio Missions (1999-2000), Jacksonville Suns (2001) and Las Vegas 51s (2001-2003). The Dodgers twice loaned him to the Mexico City Red Devils in 1998 & 2000 to pitch in the Mexican League. He made his major league debut on July 30, 2002, against the Cincinnati Reds, working 1.1 innings of relief and giving up 2 runs. He pitched in 4 games for the Dodgers in 2002 and 5 games in 2003. He was claimed on waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies after the 2003 season, but cut after spring training. In 2008, he played for the Mexico City Red Devils, going 9-5 with a 3.43 ERA in 19 starts.
