Project
The Baseball WikiProject was formed on December 13, 2004 as a subproject of WikiProject Sports. The sport of Baseball can trace its history back to the 1700s; it has survived scandal, the Great Depression, even World Wars, but has always remained the same game that our fathers loved to play.

Because baseball has such a diverse history and has survived for so long there is much than can be done to help improve its 20,000 related articles on Wikipedia. Over recent months editors have developed models that can be used to develop high quality articles that can give readers full understanding of not only players, but coaches, franchises and even individual seasons. Though new concepts are being created daily, we have not lost sight of the past and a group is dedicated to developing articles about "Old-time Base Ball".

We hope that you can be a constructive member of our group and we welcome assistance in any area of our project. Everybody is welcome to add their name to the list of participants and visit discussion about the project. The Baseball WikiProject always strives to follow the Policies and guidelines of Wikipedia.

In our sundown perambulations of late, through the outer parts of Brooklyn, we have observed several parties of youngsters playing 'base', a certain game of ball....
Let us go forth awhile and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our close rooms....
The game of ball is glorious.

Article Improvement Drive
In order to concentrate our collaboration efforts we have selected certain articles to work on together. Currently our Article improvement drive is concentrating on improving the lists of Major League Baseball franchise's managers to Featured list status. Every editor is encouraged to help improve their favorite team's list, if your team's manager list is already featured, help out with another! Using current featured lists and observing the Featured list criteria is recomended.
Tasks
If you are wondering where to start, take a look at these tasks:

There are currently nine teams with their own WikiProjects, as well as eight task forces which concentrate on specific areas. It is recomended, though not required, that new projects are discussed before creation.
