Braidwood Inquiry into the post-Tasering death of Robert Dziekanski needs copy editing, expansion and updating. Reggie Perrin (talk) 16:20, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Portal:Current events/Canada is in sore need of interested editors. It is seriously out of date and should be retired unless some editors want to adopt it. (Talk) 15:17, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Please link new candidates for Wikipedia's Did You Know section towards the top of the list, starting with the most recent article created/expanded date first. See Template talk:Did you know for current article nominations. Expansion and cleanup of candidate articles is also encouraged. Please add nominated or featured Did You Know? articles to the Did You Know? section of the Canadian Portal.
Ten Mile Point → Cadboro Bay, British Columbia. Ongoing discussion, lately challenged again by (sole) IP user....area in question is high-end residential, no cites available as to distinctness from Cadboro Bay (or general notablity) other than attestations....Skookum1 (talk) 22:31, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
List of national historic sites of Canada → List of National Historic Sites of Canada (currently a redirect), because "National Historic Site" is a title/proper noun/name and not a generic usage; leaving it the other way leaves it open to interpretation, i.e. something someone considers nationally-signficant but isn't on the official list could be added; as with recent changes adding provincial and locally-recognized sites (which I just undid).Skookum1 (talk) 15:31, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Stóːlō → Sto:lo for the same reasons, or at least change it to Stó:lō, same as the catname; one additional reason is this article name doesn't use the same special characters as teh catname does; if anything this should have the same diacriticals as teh category (which are at least similar and don't have that space, which we never seen in printed English). This re-opens the old Skwxwu7mesh issue also, and likewise while the article maybe can/should have the special charactrs, it's cumbersome to have it in the category name. If catnames redirected the way article names did, this wouldn't be so much of a problem, but it is a problem.Skookum1 (talk) 16:49, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
2010 Winter Olympics - p.r. piece, very official-toned, no discussion of public controversies or other related news, big on talking about VANOC and associated politicians though....not quite prime for a POV tag, yet something definitely like spam, so definitely in need of de-promofying and additions of alternate views/perspectives/protests - in fact Category:Politics of British Columbia is almost warranted; a separate article is a possibility but woudl risk being a POV fork....Skookum1 (talk) 03:16, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Postscript to previous changes done (thanks) by Bearcat; apparently some RDs use the "Regional District of" as their official DBA name; TheTom has reverted most of those, although the catnames continue to be dominantly in the xx Regional District formula, when perhaps they shouldn't be; TheTom also noted that the most common usage to refer to RDs is by their acronyms, so maybe "People from the SLRD" and "People from the RDOS" are easier (if not obvious to non-British Columbians); we (wikians) do use abbreviations/acronyms in catnames, such as Category:British Columbia MLAs......Skookum1 (talk) 20:25, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Canadian wikipedians' notice board/Missing municipalities - A list of incorporated municipalities in Canada which do not currently have articles. Note that at the present time, this project is only for incorporated municipalities, not unincorporated communities or neighbourhoods.
Please add new requests to the top of the list. Please keep debates on the relevant talk page, and only use this section for a concise neutral description of the issue.
Talk:Canada - effort to reduce the size and improve readability. 19:14, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Guujaaw has made two edits today to Lyell Island and Queen Charlotte Islands which he styled "corrections minor" in edit comments, but which were major content/language/POV changes. User:Ckatz reverted the first, I reverted the second. Activities of this user will require further watching/controlling.Skookum1 (talk) 19:43, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Talk:Great Bear Rainforest. Enviro-orgs spamming external links while removing eco-adventure/tour links. See bottom of talkpage.Skookum1 (talk) 04:47, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Green Party of British Columbia - contributor has re-placed uncopyrighted party logo and requested assistance in determining its copyright status. Also the party logo so re-added is bumper-sticker style, about 700px wide; i tried to add switches to the table but apparently don't know the internal code to make it work; the effect is that of a billboard....Skookum1 (talk) 00:46, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
I've reduced the size; the #px switch actually needs to be inside the wikilinks. I'm not sure how to help on the copyright question, though. Bearcat (talk) 01:53, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Poverty in Canada. Debate regarding the prominence of LICO. On one side it is often quoted by media. On other StatsCan says it was never meant to be a poverty line.
Category talk:Provincial Parks of British Columbia - suggested by-region breakdown of the category; in its current form it's maybe useful as a quick look-up for parks by alphabetosis, but then so is List of British Columbia provincial parks. Provincial parks are a major clump within any RD or region cat at present, they could be subcats of those regions (but not RD cats, as explaiend in my exegesis).Skookum1 (talk) 18:51, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Talk:William Robinson (of Salt Spring). Other than the obvious problem with the title/disambiguation, there is a notablity concern from one visitor about this article. As i recall, though, this case is notable in Canadian legal history, and of late has become of interest in historiography because of John Lutz's work on him (the only cite so far); I added the Canada-law-stub because it's a legal case, but though I better post it here so someone can review the source article and the written one not so much to check for plagiarism but to check for actual notability; the intervenor is correct, not all murders are notable, but the legal cases attached to them may be....Skookum1 (talk) 22:07, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Talk:Name of Canada - a new attempt to improve the section discussing the contentious issue of the meaning of "Dominion" in this article. 00:23, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Talk:Rick Dykstra - Should we reference Dykstra's vote on Iraq war resisters seeking asylum in Canada? CJCurrie (talk) 21:25, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
{{Intrawest resorts}} - is it normal for a company to have a template like this? Found it on the Whistler Blackcomb page, expecting to see a ski-area template....Skookum1 (talk) 22:41, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Talk:Lorne Calvert -- Dispute as to whether or not certain links are appropriate to the page. CJCurrie (talk) 02:52, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Talk:Markus Buchart -- Former leader of the Green Party of Manitoba. I'm currently involved in a slow-motion conflict with an IP who seems to object to one particular sentence. CJCurrie (talk) 03:02, 3 July 2008 (UTC) Could I please reiterate my request that someone intervene in this matter. I've asked my interlocuter several times to explain his actions; he hasn't yet done so. CJCurrie (talk) 00:00, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Sacred Headwaters. The title of this new article makes me uncomfortable for obvious reasons; it's a spin-off of the coal-bed methane sections at Tahltan and Iskut, British Columbia and is a citable title but obfviously a broad brush, inviting disambiguation huh? The coal-bed project proposal is in the Klappan Valley or Klappan Plateau (there is no Klappan River article yet, though should be as it's a major tributary of the Stikine); once such an article is created a merge of this Sacred headwaters one into it would seem to work, although the Sacred headwaters as described also include the Nass and Skeena headwaters; the article exists to highlight the coal-bed methane proposal, which is in the Klappan and not the Skeena or Nass, basins. Given this and similar articles or sections in need of becoming articles, Category:Environmental controversies in Canada and respective subcats seems like a good idea, if not quite by that name and I wouldn't know which hierarchy it would belong in. This article had not cats, I added a few, maybe there are other suitable.Skookum1 (talk) 15:34, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
