Welcome to the Wikiproject Articles for Creation! This is the project page for editors interested in working on Articles for creation.
Articles for creationThe shortcut to access the page is WP:AFC. Currently, only registered users are allowed to create articles on Wikipedia. Often, an unregistered user would like to create an article but does not want to register in order to do so. We choose not to make a judgement on why an editor does not want to register. Editors are permitted to feel this way, and Afc is a process by which their contributions can be processed into Wikipedia articles. Afc works as a peer review process, where registered editors either accept and create an article submitted by an anonymous editor or decline the article due to unsuitability for Wikipedia. Unsuitability for Wikipedia occurs in a number of ways. A list of common reasons with templates for notification is available at Wikipedia:Articles for creation/templates. Afc submissions can be denied based on having no content whatsoever, consisting of vandalism or personal attacks, consisting of a copyright violation, failing to provide sufficient context, not asserting notability, and most often for not being properly sourced. Articles that already exist, sometimes under another name, are also declined. Afc is rather strict about the sourcing requirement, which makes it a more strenuous effort than registering an account in order to create an article. Since many anonymous users have submitted articles to Afc after putting a lot of effort into creating an encyclopedia article, we believe that each of these requests should be evaluated. Articles for Creation featured contentWikiProject Articles for Creation Featured Article Drive
WikiProject AFC is holding a one month long featured article drive! Awards to be won range from the AFC barnstar to... well, the AFC barnstar. The drive page is located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Featured Content Drive. This drive was organized by Nousernamesleft. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 03:57, 9 March 2008 (UTC). Why is this important?A lot of articles are posted at AfC and many requests go unanswered. Without a dedicated team of editors working on the requests, this process has a great tendency to become backlogged. AfC was once Wikipedia's oldest backlogged project, with incomplete archive pages over two years old. Through the work of the AfC WikiProject, this backlog was eliminated on February 21, 2008 during a project-wide backlog drive. Continuing efforts ensure that the backlog will not recreate itself. The AFC BarnstarThe AFC Barnstar is granted for meritorious contributions relating to Articles For Creation. The award was proposed in July 2007. The winning design was created by Hersfold and consists of a green cross on a star composed of five capital letter As. The A signifies new articles, which is what this project is all about. The grey signifies the neutrality of Wikipedia,[1] and the green cross signifies the Articles For Creation project. Hersfold also designed a companion ribbon The award was first granted to Counterpart0 and Hersfold on 2007-07-23 for their work clearing the AFC backlog after meeting criteria set a week earlier by Hdt83. To present this award to a user, place the following code on their talk page: {{subst:AFC Barnstar|message ~~~~}} The ribbon may be displayed by any user who has been awarded the barnstar. Sources
