WikiProject New York City is a project to better organize information in articles related to New York City. This page and its subpages contain the suggestions and opinions of interested contributors; it is hoped that this project will help to focus and coordinate the efforts of all.
This WikiProject aims primarily to coordinate, organize and develop all Wikipedia activities concerning the Big Apple.
Parentage
The parent of this WikiProject is WikiProject Cities / WikiProject U.S. cities, though its relevance is somewhat limited vis-a-vis documenting a single very large city and the many unofficial communities that it is made up of.

Ruthfulbarbarity I've tried to flesh out some of the categories that have gaping holes in them, e.g. members of the New York City Council, state legislature, etc., while also creating a few articles on local subjects that I thought merited attention, e.g. Kings Plaza, Coliseum Books, New York Blood Center, New York media figures, such as Richard Brookhiser, among others, etc... Even though most of my effort is focused on politics I try to fill in some of the dead spots in other NYC-related areas as well.
TravellingCari, currently all about the museums, clean up and expand. Our cultural assets are sorely underrepresented. I also may contribute some photos. TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 04:20, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Shakescene (talk) 04:57, 9 July 2008 (UTC) - Politics, elections, City government, expanding biographical stubs of public New Yorkers (e.g. Rhinelander Waldo, Ardolph Kline, Morris Hillquit), The Bronx (although I'm no New Yorker and have probably never set foot in the Bronx); making content more comprehensible to non-New Yorkers and non-Americans
Wasrule, I have lived in Brooklyn all my life, I go to school in Manhattan. I know a fair amount about the different city schools, areas, and neighborhoods, and a lot about the transportation.
LucilleBall--I'll try as best I can to improve the articles.
This page has been created to help fill in some of the gaps in Wikipedia's coverage of the city. Some are persistent red links or unfortunate obvious omissions, others have been requested elsewhere on Wikipedia. There is also a list of those hopeful articles that fall just short of full greatness, and await only some finishing touches.
Editors are encouraged to add new requests in the appropriate section.
Please also help answer a large set of implicit requests by expanding some of the NYC-stubs.
History of New York City's Mayoral Elections because a well-informed, coherent narrative is needed to accompany all the numbers and shorter comments in the already-huge New York City mayoralty elections, now gradually approaching completion. Also separate articles or sub-articles about any Mayoral election before 1997 (particularly 1901, 1913, 1933, 1965, 1969, 1989 & 1993).
This article is part of WikiProject New York City, an effort to create, expand, and improve New York City-related articles to Wikipedia feature-quality standard.
In an effort to assess NYC articles for possible inclusion in Wikipedia:1.0, an assessment page was started for this project. Details about how to assess an article and how to request an assessment are on the /Assessment page. Information on articles is tabulated by a bot, resulting in a worklist and the table we see at the right.
