This is a WikiProject, a collaboration area and open group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of a particular topic, or to organizing some internal Wikipedia process.
Please see the Guide to WikiProjects and the Directory of WikiProjects for more information.
This WikiProject aims to organize, expand, and improve articles about rocketry. This includes all types of rockets, rocket subsystems, launch sites, and rocket history. Although it is impossible to have complete standardisation across ever type of rocket, this project provides templates to help provide users of Wikipedia rough consistency in the information and specification associated with rocket systems.
Follow Wikipedia's policy of 'most common name' as the article title. For a few rockets, who are well-known by their nicknames alone, the military designation (if any) should be omitted. The title for this group should be [[NICKNAME/PROGRAME NAME (DISAMBIGUATOR)]]. Use either 'missile' or 'rocket' as the disambiguator; others may be used if necessary. Examples of this group:
For a program with many important design stages, such as the Titan program, the main article should be [[PROGRAME NAME program]] or [[PROGRAME NAME missile program]] for military rockets and [[PROGRAM NAME (rocket family)]] for non-military rockets. Example: Titan (rocket family), with separate articles for the Titan I, II, III, and IV.
For more obscure rockets—those that are not widely recognised by their nicknames alone—or for those normally known by their military designation, such as the AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-120 AMRAAM, their military designation and nickname should be used. If no nickname is available, the manufacturer name should be included in the title. Examples:
