While unincorporated, Kensington, California, is subject to the jurisdiction of several special districts [1] (fire, police, school, etc.), some of which are exclusive to Kensington. Others include neighboring communities. Contra Costa County (where Kensington is located) is co-terminous with certain special districts (associated with services the county provides) and there are certain regional special districts (for parks, water, transit, etc.) that encompass multiple counties.
Goals of this project
Systematically identify all special districts in the United States.
Create a stub article for each district.
Define a standard for linking geographic places (municipalities, counties, states, etc.) and implement it.
Encourage Wikipedians to flesh out articles on special districts with history and other relevant facts.
