To tag: Complete Category:United Nations General Assembly observers and find other categories, any articles that appear in the UN footer with project notice, pages that link to the UN Portal, stub tags to any short UN related articles that need them
One, Rogue Monkey is the same person as Pahoran513. I've changed my name to one I like more (and isn't as religiously oriented). I'm the same person, so feel free to contact me (I have a bit of experience where the UN is concerned). Cheers.
Wikimancer (talk) 02:06, 9 April 2008 (UTC) Hasn't anyone here read James Traub's "The Best Intentions"? Anyways, it's a good book, and there's a lot of good people in it for whom I think there should be articles here.
This footer is for use on all UN related pages. It should be expanded to include all the other UN entities (see United Nations System, but this may make it rather large. Using the following code:
{{Infobox UN}} may be used to summarise information about a body, organization, council or other group under the United Nations. Use the following code:
{{Infobox UN
| name =
| image =
| caption =
| type =
| acronyms =
| head =
| status =
| established =
| website =
| parent =
| subsidiaries =
| commons =
| footnotes =
}}
To get a (functional but somewhat unattractive) box like the one on the right:
There are lots of establishments of mandates in Category:United_Nations_Security_Council_mandates and Timeline of United Nations peacekeeping missions which this needs to be applied to. It would be convenient if the above infobox could be extended to include further parameters, such as location, partners, better website link (eg as [http://blahblah {{{acronym}}} webpage]), latest status report, preceeded_by, suceeded_by, etc.
Official documents
For citing official documents (resolutions, reports, verbatim transcripts) generated by the General Assembly or Security Council published under the UN masthead marked with a United Nations Document Code, use {{UN_document}} rather than direct URL links. Most documents on-line at the UN website are protected from deep linking by randomized URLs and session cookies, so your link will not work for anyone else.
{{UN_document}} citations are detailed enough to find on paper should you be fortunate to have access to a depository library. Meanwhile, many document codes can access documents through an independent website www.undemocracy.com which de-PDF-izes some of the meetings for web-friendliness. It is also able to serve individual PDF pages because some files are gigantic.
