William Wimsatt, also known as Billy Upski, (born 1973) is an author, activist, and graffiti artist. Wimsatt is the founder of the League of Pissed Off Voters and the author of several books.

Biography

Wimsatt was born in Chicago and received his High School diploma from the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, but dropped out of college. A college dropout, Wimsatt is a speaker on college campuses.[1] Wimsatt uses "Upski" as his middle name, but it is really his tag, meaning the name he used to write graffiti growing up in Chicago.[2][3][4]

Books

Wimsatt's first book was Bomb The Suburbs, a collection of essays and other material mocking the suburban mindset. The essay "We Use Words Like Mackadocious...", previously printed in The Source (May 1993), criticized the development of the wigger subculture. In 1994's No More Prisons, referencing urbanism and the prison-industrial complex, Wimsatt coordinated the release in conjunction with an underground hip-hop album on Raptivism Records. Along with editing the 2003 Future 500: Youth Activism in the United States book, in 2004 Wismatt co-edited How To Get Stupid White Men Out Of Office, a collection of essays from youth election organizers around the world.[5]
