Zumobi Tiles

Zumobi (formerly ZenZui)^[1] is a software application that allows users to access a wide variety of content from their mobile phone via a Zooming User Interface. By selecting up to 16 Tiles for the zoom space, a user can access content that is highly personalized and delivered via server synchronization similar to e-mail delivery on the RIM BlackBerry. A Tile is like a Web widget acting as an interactive distributor of content such as traffic, weather, movie times, sports scores, and a variety of data accessed via the web. Tiles can also contain snippets of audio, interactive games, and link out to the existing browser to complete transactions or access further information. Anyone with the Zumobi SDK will be able to build a Tile and later submit it for download from the web site.

Zumobi is a free application, and can be easily downloaded to Windows Mobile and BlackBerry phones. Zumobi recently extended its mobile widget platform to the iPhone with a branded application for the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Zumobi was founded in September 2006 and announced officially at CTIA in the end of March 2007. The three founders are John SanGiovanni, Jim Cooley, and Dr. Ben Bederson, with Ken Willner as CEO. Zumobi is a wholly independent company spun out of Microsoft Research via the Microsoft IP Ventures group.
